Reign Shutout by Grizzlies 1-0

WEST VALLEY CITY, Utah – The Ontario Reign (7-5-0-2), four-time Pacific Division Champions and proud affiliate of the NHL’s 2014 Stanley Cup Champion Los Angeles Kings and Winnipeg Jets, fell to the Utah Grizzlies (5-5-1-2) by a 1-0 score in front of a crowd of 5,350 on Monday night at Maverik Center.

The game was only 43 seconds old when Zach Bell dropped the gloves with Alex Gallant, which fired up both teams. The best chance for Ontario in the opening period came when Geoff Walker and Maxim Kitsyn teamed up during a two-on-one situation. Walker fed the puck across to Kitsyn, but the winger was denied with a tremendous glove save by Ryan Faragher.

The Grizzlies opened the scoring in the second period when Myles Harvey moved the puck into the corner from the right circle into the corner, where Mike Colavecchia passed it into the slot for T.J. Syner, who fired the puck past Joe Cannata at 15:49.

In the third period, the Reign only managed six shots on goal and Faragher managed to stop all of them to pick up his first professional shutout, and the Grizzlies held on for the win.

Cannata took the loss for Ontario with 17 saves; Faragher earned the victory with 23 stops.

Three Stars:
1. UTA – Ryan Faragher
2. UTA – T.J. Syner
