Recap: East wins the IVC Hall of Fame game.

Fontana, Calif., — High school football is officially finished for the 2018-2019 school season. The 4th Annual Inland Valley Hall of Fame Classic took place at A.B. Miller High School. Hosting another festive event to cap off the final high school game, for the all-stars selected.

The San Bernardino County East all-stars led by Redlands East Valley head coach Richard Lunsford emerged with the victory in a swift 21-3 game against the San Bernardino West all-stars led by Ganesha High School head coach Don Cayer. The competitor in coach Lunsford was fully showcased on Saturday night as he was determined for a win even if the game did not have the same stakes as it would in regular season play.

“I told the kids at the beginning of the week we’re out here to have fun and enjoy it, but losing ain’t fun,” Lunsford said. “All the kids agreed with me they don’t want to lose. Especially since everyone of us lost the last game of the year on our squad. They got to finish their high school career with a W.”

The game started off slow and was highlighted by both team’s defense showing up big when it mattered. In the first quarter Redlands High School cornerback Seth Martinez on the East all-stars returned an interception for 45 yards bringing the East close to their endzone to start the drive for their offense. A short drive occurred after not being able to score in the endzone and turned into a turnover on downs for the West all-stars defense.

The game kept going back and forth with either turnovers or three-and-outs all the way until East all-stars quarterback Jordan Pachot out of San Gorgonio High School scored the first TD of the game. Pachot had himself a great night as he was crowned the MVP of the game. To be crowned the MVP in a game like surrounded by some of best peers in the county is one of those moments that will go with you forever, but receiving a scholarship as well is huge blessing for any student looking to go on to the next chapter of life.

“It means a lot. Winning the MVP and getting a scholarship just means a lot,” Pachot said.

He is not yet decided on where to go but whatever route he chooses he will be a player to watch progress and see what he becomes. If it is any indication on how his high school career went after throwing for 9,502 yards, 94 total TD, and 31 interceptions, then the sky is the limit for the kid.
