(Carson, CA) In the LA Chargers first home game at StubHub Center, the Fight 4 LA campaign resumes! With Joey Bosa sitting out, Melvin Ingram put on a show early, making Seahawks star QB Wilson very uncomfortable.
Ingram, who has 29 sacks over the past three seasons, Chargers drafting him 18th overall in 2012, clearly set tone and led to the LA Chargers playing loose! Unable to run the football, the Seahawks relied heavily on the arm of Russell Wilson, who went 13\21 for 193 yards no touchdowns.
Being the Preseason favorite to win the AFC West, Philip Rivers (6/7 | 62 yards), was the beneficiary of a solid run game. Star running back, Melvin Gordon (10 – 35) was able to escape the grasp of the Seattle defense, formerly Legion of Boom, with an early Touchdown. The Chargers had additional run support from Detrez Newsome, Rookie out of Western Carolina, breaking for 78 yards on 19 attempts.
The Bolts air attack was in full effect, Mike Williams continuing his Preseason highlight reel, catching an eyeopening 25 yard touchdown pass. Both Allen and T. Williams contributed with big time receptions for positive yards. The Chargers fanbase knows they have a strong leader in starting QB Rivers, but there is lots of excitement for backup Geno Smith, assisting the Bolts on 6/8 passing, 85 yards and a touchdown.
Head Coach Anthony Lynn in his second year with the Chargers, carrying over from last year, is improving the team and creating a winning culture. Obviously the number one goal is to win a Super Bowl, but they have their sights set on winning the Division then moving forward.
