Corona, Calif — Centennial will look to avoid its first 0-2 start to a season since 1998, Matt Logan’s second year in charge of the program. The Huskies have not lost back-to-back games in the same season since 2013 (Long Beach Poly and Alemany). Gary Bryant and Nicholas Floyd were bright spots in a 42-12 drubbing by Mater Dei.
Bryant had seven catches for 166 yards, and Floyd rushed for 82 yards and two touchdowns. Orange Lutheran opened with a 27-21 win over San Juan Hills. Logan Gonzalez tossed a pair of touchdowns, including one to freshman Tiger Bachmeier, the brother of former Murrieta Valley star quarterback Hank Bachmeier. Centennial has won all six of its past meetings with Orange Lutheran.
