USC’s women had an impressive showing in the 400m prelims yesterday, as all four Trojans advanced to the finals, led by senior Vanessa Jones who had the best time with a PR of 51.92. That time moved her from fourth to third on USC’s all-time list. Today at the PAC 12 track & field finals, Vanesse Jones eclipsed her PR running a 51:50, putting her at second on UCS’s ALL-Time and has run on three of the top 10 Trojans’ 4x400m relay teams of all-time!
High School: Jones of Etiwanda HS placed second in the 400m race at the 2011 California State Meet with a time of 54.49. She has a best 400m time of 53.58 in placing second at the 2010 CIF Southern Section Masters Meet. Won the 2010 CIF Division I 400m title with a time of 54.12, just edging out current teammate Akawkaw Ndipagbor. Jones also has a PR of 24.53 in the 200m dash.
Personal: Vanessa was born on Jan. 1, 1993 in Anaheim, Calif…Was a four-year honor roll student in high school…Participated in community outreach including clothing drives…Is a Human Performance major at USC, with a minor in Entrepreneurship… She is also the sister of Cincinnati Bengals (WR) Marvin Jones Jr.
