STOCKTON, Calif., Dec. 28, 2018 – Closing out 2018 on the road, the Agua Caliente Clippers of Ontario (9-9) dropped a 118-95 decision to the Stockton Kings (10-7) on Friday night at Stockton Arena.
Jamel Artis led the Clippers with his fourth 20-point of the season after recording 23 points while shooting 50 percent from the floor on 9-of-18 shooting. Angel Delgado and Brandon Fields each contributed 18 points.
The Kings got off to a solid start and led by as much as 20 points in the first half after going on a 15-0 run that began in the closing moments of the opening quarter and extended to the 8:41 mark in the second frame. The Clippers trimmed the deficit to as low as 10 points as Artis led the offense in the first half with 16 points on 6-of-8 shooting.
In his rookie season, Delgado led the Clippers in the third quarter, notching 12 points on 4-of-7 shooting from the floor. Guard Manu Lecomte contributed nine points in the third quarter, all coming from beyond the arc, as his last three-pointer was an impressive bank shot in the closing seconds that cut the deficit to 85-75 heading into the last quarter.
Despite the third quarter push from the Clippers, the Kings never looked back as the home team extended their lead to as much as 25 points in the fourth quarter. The Clippers ended the game shooting 42 percent from the floor and just 63 percent from the free-throw line.
The Clippers return home for a three game homestand beginning with a New Year’s day contest versus Salt Lake City Stars. The game is slated to tip-off at 3 p.m. (PST) inside Citizens Business Bank Arena.
