Ontario, CA— The Agua Caliente Clippers used a career night from Tyrone Wallace to beat the Reno Bighorns 126-119 at Citizens Business Bank Arena on Monday night, improving to 11-7 overall and evening the season series to 1-1.
After a back-and-forth first half that saw the Clippers leading by just two at the break, the Clippers took a three-point lead heading into the final quarter of play. The Bighorns threatened briefly in the fourth, but with six minutes left to play, J.J. O’Brien scored five back-to-back points to spark a 15-4 Clippers run. The deficit proved to be too much for Reno to overcome.
Wallace had his best all-around game of the season, pouring in 26 points to go with eight rebounds, 13 assists, five steals and five blocks. The latter three are career-highs. Guard LaDontae Henton also added 26 points, including a 6-for-10 effort from deep, while Andre Dawkins contributed 18 points off the bench on 4-for-8 shooting from the three-point line. Three more Clippers scored in double-figures, as J.J. O’Brien, Ike Iroegbu and Marshall Plumlee added 17, 16 and 10 points, respectively.
The Clippers hit the road for a rematch with the Austin Spurs on Thursday night at AT&T Center. The last time the two teams met, the Spurs came out on top in an overtime game. Tip-off is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. PST. Fans can stay up-to-date on team news by following the team on Twitter (@ACClippers) or visiting ACClippers.com.
