(Rancho Cucamonga, CA) On a chilly night, which made for perfect football weather, the Upland Christian Academy Eagles (4-1) hosted the Lucerne Valley Mustangs (1-5) at Upland Christian Academy. The Eagles have dominated their opponents in each of their wins by winning with an average margin of 68 points per game. Additionally they are coming off of a 106-6 win the week prior against Victor Valley Christian.
Initial scoring for the game-and on their very first drive- was a nine yard touchdown run by running back #30 Gideon Sudyka to put the Eagles up 6-0 after the failed two point conversion early in the 1st quarter. Gideon Sudyka wasn’t done with scoring as he had a pick six that ruined the Mustangs opening offensive drive to put the Eagles up 14-0 after the successful two-point conversion. Shortly after the Mustangs would strike back with a long 62-yard touchdown run where the running back had a dazzling display of elusiveness with strength while dodging and avoiding multiple tacklers on his way to the end zone, to bring the score to 14-6. To follow up that impressive display Gideon Sudkya would strike again but this time with a 73-yard kickoff return to bring the score to 20-6. Gideon Sudyka would score from 2 yards out to bring his touchdown total to 4 and followed that with a two-point conversion run that would put the Eagles up 28-6 with 6:38 left in the first quarter.
To start off the second quarter the Eagles offensive attacked continued with a 42-yard pass reception hookup between Quarterback Erik Dahler and Wide Receiver Chris Meza to put the Eagles lead up to 34-6. Following that scoring possession the Eagles defense stepped up by causing an interception by Gideon Sudkya to give them the ball in opponents territory; which would result in a 16 yard touchdown reception by Gideon as well to put the Eagles up 42-6 followed with a successful two point conversion. Mustangs would quickly cut into the lead by taking a 56 yard kickoff return for a touchdown and followed that with a two point conversion to put the score at 42-14 with 9:00 left in the second quarter. A couple minutes later the Eagles would comeback with a 63-yard pass hookup for a touchdown between Erik Dahler and Gideon Sudyka that would put the Eagles up 48-14. Gideon Sudkya would get another interception on a defensive stop by the Eagles with a little under three minutes to play in the first half but would quickly give the ball back to the Mustangs on a fumble which would result in a missed opportunity. The Mustangs quarterback, who was hit as he threw on the next play, threw an interception to #42 Beau Mccombs as he took it already inside the 5 yard line which would result in another touchdown hookup between Erik Dahler and Gideon Sudyka that would increase the lead to 54-14.
After a scoreless third quarter the Mustangs were driving and had the ball at the one-yard line before they lost the ball on a fumble. This equaled a failed opportunity for the team to decrease the lead. That would be the closest any team got to the endzone in the second half which eventually resulted in a 54-14 victory for the Upland Christian Academy Eagles who improved to 5-1 while Lucerne Valley Eagles fall to 1-6.
