Hidalgo, TX—The Agua Caliente Clippers fell to the Rio Grande Valley Vipers 117-112 on Thursday night at State Farm Arena, slipping to 9-7 on the season. The loss, which came two nights after the Clippers snapped the Vipers’ 13-game winning streak, ties the two teams at one win apiece in the season series.
Unlike the two teams’ previous matchup that took place Tuesday night, the Clippers led the majority of the game, stretching the lead to as many as 15 points in the third quarter. However, with three minutes left in the fourth, Rio Grande Valley made an 11-2 run to grab the win. Turnovers plagued the Clippers throughout the night, as they committed 27. 10 of those came in the last quarter of play.
One bright spot was the Clippers shooting effort from the three-point line, as they shot 43-percent (13-30) from deep as a team. LaDontae Henton and Andre Dawkins each contributed four.
Tyrone Wallace led the Clippers once again with 29 points and seven rebounds and seven assists. Henton added 22 points, including a 4-of-6 effort from deep. Brice Johnson recorded his sixth double-double of the season, putting up 11 points and grabbing 11 boards. The Clippers bench had another productive night, as they combined for 37 points, led by Dawkins who had 16.
