SAN BERNARDINO, CA — Current Minnesota Vikings and former San Bernardino High running back Alexander Mattison will be teaming up with NFL Play 60 to host a Friday Night Lights football camp at San Bernardino High School.
The NFL Play 60 camp will be held on Friday, July 2nd beginning at 1:00 p.m. and is designed to educate, encourage, and empower youth grades 1st through 6th while learning proper skills and techniques from Alexander and other current NFL athletes. The later camp at 5:00 p.m. will be for grades 7th through 12th and will allow them to shine under the lights, as Alexander will provide them with an NFL-style combine and skills camp.
Mattison is a San Bernardino native and a 2016 graduate of San Bernardino High School. The two-time all-state running back was named the county’s top student-athlete, for his outstanding performance on the field and in the classroom. Alexander was a dual-immersion program student starting in the 1st grade and graduated with a seal of biliteracy. After rushing for back-to-back 2,000+ yard seasons for the Cardinals, Alex chose to accept a full-ride football scholarship to Boise State University. Here he led the Broncos in rushing before leaving college early to enter the NFL Draft. Selected by the Minnesota Vikings with their 3rd round pick, Alexander has continued to shine on the national stage.
Now the light is its brightest, as he returns to San Bernardino to carry the torch of helping the same community from which he came from. Alexander is known in his hometown community as not only a superb athlete but also an impressive role model for youth. “Giving back is just the right thing for me to do,” Alexander says. “I remember when I was a kid, so many positive figures gave to us, and now it’s my time to provide for the next generation.”
The IAM GIFTED Football Camps are FREE of charge and open to all local ages six to eighteen. For more information and registration please visit www.AthletesforLife.org or call Greg Bell at 888/675-8884.
