ONTARIO, Calif., Jan. 19, 2019 – The Agua Caliente Clippers of Ontario (15-13) take down the Salt Lake City Stars (14-14) in overtime thanks to Anthony Bennett’s game-winner.
With 3.6 on the clock, Bennett hit an open jumper off the inbounds pass, leaving 0.2 seconds and sealing the victory for the Clippers. Bennett finished the game with 15 points on five-of-seven shooting off the bench for Agua Caliente.
The game was back and forth all night, with the two teams exchanging leads 19 times. The Clippers tried to pull away in the fourth and led by five with 2:04 remaining, but a 6-0 run gave Salt Lake a 106-105 lead with 20.5 seconds to go. With 10.6, Jamel Artis hit a three pointer from the corner to put the Clippers up two, but Jairus Lyles quickly responded with a layup with 3.2 remaining to send the game into overtime.
Stars guard Isaiah Cousins led the game with 27 points on 10-of-26 shooting to go along with six rebounds and five assists.
Angel Delgado recorded another double-double for the Agua Caliente with 20 points and 14 rebounds. Anfernee Simons, in his second game on assignment from the Portland Trailblazers, put up 25 points on 10-of-17 shooting and grabbed five rebounds.
Up next, the Agua Caliente Clippers host the East-leading Long Island Nets in the fifth game of a six game homestand. The Sunday matinee is set to tip off at 3 p.m. PDT inside the Citizens Business Bank Arena.
