Clippers rally back to take down Kings for first win

STOCKTON, Calif., Nov. 11, 2018 – It was a tale of two halves as the Agua Caliente Clippers of Ontario (1-2) earned their first win of the season, defeating the Stockton Kings (2-3),120-106, on Sunday afternoon.

The Kings got off to a hot start in the first quarter, shooting 72 percent from the field and ending the quarter on a 22-7 run. Stockton extended their lead in the second quarter and capped off their strong first half with a Kalin Lucas jumper to give them a 68-50 lead going into the break.

Lucas scored 23 points in the first half, going 9-of-11 from the field and knocking down 5-of-6 three-pointers. He finished with a game-high 33 points off the bench.

The Clippers rallied back, bringing a 20-point deficit down to one at the end of the third and regained the lead thanks to a Jerome Robinson three-pointer with 9:06 to go in the fourth quarter. Agua Caliente secured the comeback with a 27-12 run to end the game.

Robinson, on assignment from the LA Clippers, finished with 26 points on 9-of-18 shooting from the field, making six of his seven three-point attempts, and added five rebounds.

Two-way player Johnathan Motley led the comeback, with 21 of his 26 points coming in the second half. He added 15 rebounds to finish the game with his third double-double of the season.

The Clippers return home on Wednesday, Nov. 14, to host the Iowa Wolves in an 11 a.m. matinee at Citizens Business Bank Arena in Ontario, Calif.
