Auto Club Speedway Mascot and Kids Club President, Lefty, is excited to once again to offer the public an opportunity to drive their own vehicle around the 2-mile oval at Auto Club Speedway to support local schools as part of Lefty’s Track Day on Saturday, Aug. 22 from 5:00-7:30 p.m.

Paced by the Speedway’s Official Pace Car, participants who make a $10.00 donation will get to drive their vehicle on the oval track. Guests can also experience a pace car ride at speeds up to 100mph for an additional $20.00.

New this year, fans have the opportunity to attend a viewing party in designated suites along pit road to watch the NASCAR Irwin Tools Night Race at Bristol Motor Speedway. Gates open at 4:00 p.m. and viewing party starts at 4:30 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Food and beverages will be available for purchase. All proceeds from the event will benefit the Auto Club Speedway Foundation which supports Lefty’s Reading Challenge, a program that encourages reading excellence from Southern California elementary school children and provides grants to school libraries.

Lefty’s Reading Challenge, named after Auto Club Speedway mascot Lefty, is part of Auto Club Speedway’s heralded youth initiative.  More than 133,000 students from 221 elementary schools in San Bernardino, Riverside and Los Angeles Counties read thousands of books during Lefty’s Reading Challenge earlier this year, for a chance to win thousands of dollars for their school libraries.
